Hi all,
I am new to sld object creation.I need to create 3 software componets and i am utterly confused!!
1. for sap system,it would be one which will have IDOC's and all sap related objects only.I will be linking the sap business system to this.
2. Another two , third party and i dont have any business systems for them , i will be using business services if required.
My queries:
1.Do i need to create 1 product only or 3,if only one ,how to should i link it to 3 s\w componets. Is it a good practice or how should it ideally be.
2.Please let me know the steps to be followed like which one to create first , pls try to answer with my requirement in mind.
thanks....

This is purely a work of technical consultant .The client team and PI tech member has to sit and decide which approach to follow keeping business objectives in mind.
I guess there is no harm in creating seperate products. In your case , create one ABAP based product for SAP ( most of the cases it will be either sender or receiver in scenarios)
Create another for third party product : in fact you can go on creating products for every new vender (3rd party).
The steps would be like.. for SAP based system
create Product->SWCV->tecnical system(link ur product created earlier)->create Business system(link technical system and SWCV).
for non sap Create Product and SWCV and import in IR .. Business services you can created at your will in ID.

Actually i had solved the issue in a similar way but didnt close the thread.
As there is a possibility of more reuse in my project .. so we have created a separate bussiness Process SWC for mappig and Interface mapping.
Rightly said , the conventions were discussed with business and finalised.
closing the thread.
Thanks

Refer my answer in this thread:
Creation and grouping of objects is related to the Business Application to which they belong and not Protocol which they implement!
I would suggest you have a good read of the Naming COnvention document for your respective XI/ PI version....it will guide you on why/ how to group the objects.

Abhishek.

Create one Product and one Software component for IDOC and all SAP Scenarios, while creating product ,SWC follow proper naming convetion with client name , region(if any),then use Bussiness System name.i think this is the best practice to follow, even i did same thing.

Create one more product for thirdparty scenarios and create required software components .(Bussiness Service Scenarios).
better to refer SAP documentation for the same.

Abhi,

It all depends upon your business requirement, Assume if you except each s/w might have more than 10 + objects, If that so go ahead with three components else as you mentioned go for SAP, Non SAP.
