Hi,

I am trying to install SAP 4.7 on Solaris 10 - Oracle 9.2.0.7. I am using standar installation DVD for SAP 4.7 SR1. After installation I want to login SAP system I have an error about database inconsistency. System said that enter SICK transaction. I entered SICK and my error is "OS release SunOS 5.10 Generic_141444-09 sun4u is not support with this kernel". After I received this error I installed new kernel (221) and I upgaded kernel to 221. But after that I could not open SAP system. I checked dev_w1 and it is like below:

"dev_w1" 456 lines, 18662 characters

Oracle 9.2.x is already out of support, any reason why you don't install a new system with 10.2?

The ABAP stack fails in a very early stage of initialization.

If you check the PAM (httP://service.sap.com/pam) you'll find out, that 4.7 is not support on Solaris 10, only Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 are supported.

Dear Markus.

I have already checked PAM for kernel 6.40 Unicode-Oracle database. PAM says for Kernel 6.40 Unicode Oracle-Solaris/SPARC 10 like below:

Oracle Enterprise Edition only

At least Oracle Patchset 9.2.0.6 required.

Please see SAP note 925871 for Oracle 9.2 maintenance information

Are the my OS and database platform not enough the install SAP 4.7 Enterprise on Oracle 9.2.0.7 and Solaris SPARC 10?

If I install Oracle 10.2.0.4 can I install SAP 4.7 on this server? Is it not possible also?

> I have already checked PAM for kernel 6.40 Unicode-Oracle database. PAM says for Kernel 6.40 Unicode Oracle-Solaris/SPARC 10 like below:

Kernel 6.40 - yes, Kernel 6.40 on a SAP_BASIS 6.20 (which 4.7 is) only Solaris 8 and and 9 are supported.

> Are the my OS and database platform not enough the install SAP 4.7 Enterprise on Oracle 9.2.0.7 and Solaris SPARC 10?

Again:

- Oracle 9.2 is out support

- R/3 Enterprise 4.7 is out of support

> If I install Oracle 10.2.0.4 can I install SAP 4.7 on this server? Is it not possible also?

To not start over with a new installation I would

- upgrade your database to Oracle 10.2.0.4 including all interim patches

- install kernel 640_EX2 which uses the Oracle instantclient 10.2 and is natively supported on Solaris 10

Hi.

I've related doubts:

I'm planning the DB and SO upgrade for some systems due to company requirements:

Actually I've SunON 5.8 Sparc and oracle 9.2

The target versions are Solaris 10 and Oracle 10g

In that servers I've a R/3 4.7 running and I want to be sure if it'll suppor the new OS versions after the upgrade.

On PAM i see that SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE 47X200 (with SAP_BASIS 620) supports what I'm looking for:

ORACLE 10.2 64-BIT - SOLARIS/SPARC 10

With the following requisites:

- Oracle Enterprise Edition only

- At least Oracle patchset 10.2.0.2 required.

- At least Oracle client release 9.2.0.7 required.

So I guess it'll work correctly, right?

Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated.

Regards.

Yes.

Use the 640_EX2 kernel and the Oracle instantclient.

Hi Markus,

I solved the problemi. Problem was about Solaris Kernel parameters. I changed parameters and then I reinstalled SAP 4.7. Also I used Oracle 9.2.0.8 for installation. After installation I changed kernel level to SAP640-223 and and there is no problem now. I used normal SAP Kernel not EXT Kernel. Because firstly I tried EXT Kernel but SAP system didn't open. After that I used normal unicode kernel and system opened.

Thank you very much for your help.

I thought that was already done - that's why I didn't point that out

Keep in mind that the /etc/system parameters are no longer valid on Solaris 10, you have to create a project and assign the users (see Note 724713 - parameter settings for Solaris 10)

Yes, the EXT kernels are linked against the Oracle 10 instantclient.

HI All

I am also installin SAP 4.7*200 SR1 on Solaris 10 .I have gone thru the Note 724713 - parameter settings for Solaris 10 and also set env like DISPLAY,LD_LIBRARY_PATH AND SAPINST_JRE_HOME. But when i start the instalation by sh startInstGui.sh .it gives me error like cannot execute sapinstgui and if i run sh sapinstgui it gives me error like -Syntax error at line 3')' unexpected

Where is the error.CAN IN INSTALL R/3 4.7 *200 SR1 ON SOLARIS 10

Please post the output of the two commands

uname -a

and

file sapinstgui

It seems you're trying to install with wrong binaries.

Hi Markus

Thanks for prompt Reply

uname -a : SunOS SAPSANBOX 5.10 Generic_141445-09 i86pc i386 i86pc

file sapinstgui : ELF 64-bit MSB executable SPARCV9 Version 1, dynamically linked, not stripped

Does this output means that i have SAP R/3 4.7 installaion package for SPARC plateform not for intel .

(I have installed solaris 10 on intel machine)

I am doing like this because : we have SUN Sparc servers and have installed R/3 4.7 on them(dev-test-prd) and now i want to have SANDBOX and copy the data from test server. But for SANDBOX i dont have SPARC machine, so i have to work on intel plateform,i installed Solaris 10 and want to intall R/3 4.7

Thanks

Exactly.

There doesn't exist a 4.7 installation for Solaris x86. Availability started with ERP 6.0.

Read the documentation.

For a remote client copy the support package levels and the data dictionaries have to be identical. In most cases this is not the case if you e. g. applied support package in the source system what you did not in the target (freshly installed system).

Hi markus

With you initial reply (wrong binery)i saved my import time .now i am at presant copying the remote client around 2500 objects were copied and i hope i will sucessfully copy the remote client . i have done lot of stuff for this. initally there are lot of tab def missing. i transported all of them(tables, data elements, structure) i also excleded two z table and finally i am doing this activity

Thanks for you support

Actually this doesn't mean it's working since the source code is different (support package levels and self developments) and may refer to structures that are not consistent with the source codes.

You can try but I doubt it'll work.

Good luck!

Hi Markus

I think you got something wrong from my quotes. Actually i installed R/3 4.7 on windows 2003,installed all the required support package(Both target and source are on same SP stack as well as Kernel ),with RFC i compare both the systems, there were some missing tables in target ,i transport from source to target ,after checking the consistency (only two z table excluded) than i started the remote client copy, since yesterday it is in process and tables are coping to target, i may be sucessfully copy the client

if i need to consider something, kindly guide

Thanks

Usually you would have done a system copy using the R3load method to "copy systems". This is the much easier approach and will enable you to really copy the system as a whole and not by pieces.
