hi
i have already installed SAP IDES ECC6 and it is running.
now i would like to install a Javastack.
i read the documenation for preparing and installing netweaver java. the documentation says i have to install <Your SAP product>SAP Application Server Java <Database><System Variant>. but i can't find this option. i am using the sapinst from this medium: 51036888_11: BS 7 SR1 Installation Master Windows Server on IA32 32bit. the only options for java i have is "system copy based on java".
please help!
regards
Pourang
SAP does not recommend isntaling a JAVA stack as an add-in.
you should install it as a standalone instance. It can be install on the same server, but not as an add-in.
so, use your Netweaver SR3 DVD kit and install JAVA stack only. make sure to use a different SID and SYSTEM numbers.

hi ,
What Eric is saying is correct now SAP does not recommend installing java stack as add in.
What you can do is Install Java stack as different SID and instance no. on the same machine.you can do MCOD but again it depends upon your requirement and hardware configuration. If you have enough space and hardware config. than installing different database is always a good idea.

Hi,
SAP does not recommend isntaling a JAVA stack as an add-in. ?????
I have read somewhere in the latest installation guides as " You cannot install the Java Add-In for existing ABAP Dialogue Instance(s) ".
Anyway, If you want to install Standalone Java Stack within the same server with different SID, then run the same SAPInst of your IDES Installation Master, which you already used. Please perform prerequisite check before proceeding to installation.
On the screen SAP System > Software Units, make sure that you select the software unit ECC as "SAP ERP software units" along with AS JAVA (usage type) as "Netweaver Software Units".
Please read concerned SAP Installation Guide for Installing Java Stack only, to get more information for your requirement.

Hi,
Please refer " Installing the Java Add-In for an Existing ABAP System " section of the corresponding Installation Guide, which you already had referred during your first ABAP Stack installation.
Run SAPinst, which you have used previously for the installation of ABAP stack.
On the Welcome screen, choose <SAP system> -> Software Life-Cycle Options -> Java Add-In for ABAP -> <database> -> <system variant>
Installation sequence will be as followed:
1.Central Services Instance (SCS) Java Add-In
2. Database Instance Java Add-In
3. Central Instance Java Add-In

And there is no recomendation to install Java Add-In for ABAP in the documentation.

I would like to install it on the same server which run ABAP-Stack.
