Gurus,
What is the difference byw code grps & Selected sets?.When & where it can be used?
Code Group and Group Code to define the 2 tier data hierarchy it uses when defining the data families in the Quality Catalogs. A Code Group represents a family of common codes used to support that particular process. The Group codes are individual members of that family.
Codes are List of atribute characteristics like - Blue,Green,Yellow etc..
all codes are Grouped under Codegroup
Example - Codes Blue,Green,Yellow are Grouped under Code Group Color
we will create Selected set to assign valuation for these Codes
These are Atribute catalogs can be assigned in Qualitative characteristics.

There can be a huge blogs on this including SAP help online.
I would tell you in simple statements.
Code groups(QS41):
Code group is a collection of codes.depending upon the catalogs used.
say catalog type 9,defects of brazing can be clubbed together in code group "Brazing"
Hirachy would be Catalog-->Code groups -->codes
Selected set(QS51).
Selected sets are created by collecting different codes of diffent code groups.
Selected set can only created for catlog type 1 & 3.

Hi ,
Code groups & code are the attributes whcih you can define for different catalogue while seleceted sets are a range of specific entries (code groups and codes) of a catalog.A selected set enables the user to choose only those code groups and codes of a catalog that allowed for a specific purpose or "Plant" from the whole list of defined code group & codes.
Cheers,
Tushar
