Try to reduce the heap size value Heap size (-Xms and -Xmx). Whats the total memory you have?? you can do this by using configtool.
Thanks
Prince

Hi Dave,
Looks like your newly installed J2EE cannot be brought online (due to issues or too small timeout in SAPinst)
Please check dev, jvm and std traces for your J2ee server :
Open dir : /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS01/work/
and look through
dev_server0, dev_dispatcher, jvm_server0.out, std_server0, jvm_bootstrap_xxxx and other related,
Post errors you'll find in these files,
Regards,
Mike

Thx Mike,
I am attaching the dev_server0 log, with a line also from dev_jcontrol which seems to be a problem (I searched my system for the jvmx.jar file it complains about and I can't find it anywhere. I looks like I need to increase my heap size which is in a log file as being set at 256k. Do you know where I can make that adjustment?
