Hello All,

I have added some keyfigures in our Planning Area on our developement system.

Please let me know the pros and cons of transporting the PA to Q and P systems.

Thanks,

Siva.

Hi Siva

Since you have made changes to the planning area , when you transport the planning area to the Q or Production system , the time series in the target system will become unusable. So the general procedure you have to follow is

*) Backup the time series data to back up cube

*) Deinitialize planning area

*) Reinitialize planning area

*) Restore time series by loading dat afrom backup cube to planning area.

The critical area is backing up data and restoring it . So that is the main drawback of a planning area change. Because if something goes wrong you will lose all your time series data.

Hi Saradha,

Sorry to miss an information in the above message.

My PA is SNP. There is no time series keyfigure available in it.

Thanks,

SIva.

Oh that is really good. If you have just order series data in your SNP planning book, then there is no need to backup and restore any data. All you have to do is transport the planning area to test / production , deinitialize and reinitialize the planning area . However try out this exercise in test system thoroughly before you move it to production. Just to make sure everything is fine you can run the consistency check with repair option (/sapapo/ts_lcm_cons_check program) after initialization and this will make sure all inconsistencies are removed .

Thanks

Saradha
