The problem is "no such device or address".
The volume size can be tuned, but its' just a warning of the estimation. It can be forced to continue and may work.
try this at unix command:
mt -f /dev/rmt/0m rew
You should see the same error message.
do a "ls -l /dev/rmt/0m" and check if it's there.
some times the device name changes if it has been replaced. check "ls -l /dev/rmt" to see what device are listed there.
You may need to do a ioscan and insf if the device has not been recognized by the system (usually if you reboot your system, these are done for you automatically, it is only necessary if you add/replaced the tape device online).

Hi,
You have to check the following paramters on init<sid>.SAP
tape_size = 1200M ---> default value
You ave to check the size of you file systems, probably many of then are bigger that default value.
tape_address = /dev/rmt/0m
The device should be there, if it is not the system show a message like this:
BR0279E Return code from 'LANG=C mt -f /dev/rmt/0m rew': 1
BR0213E Winding tape volume in device /dev/rmt/0mn failed
Cheers

Hi,
From your backup log,it seems that your backup size is exceeding your backup pool size. Check whether your backup size is fit enough on your backup pool.
hope that can help you.

Hi,
I do not think that the error is related to the backup size:
<quote>
BR0226I Rewinding tape volume in device /dev/rmt/0m ...

BR0279E Return code from 'LANG=C mt -f /dev/rmt/0m rew': 1

<quote>
The error is clear. You are trying to perform a backup on /dev/rmt/0m
This device does <b>not </b>exist on your server.
You have to get in touch with your system administrator and he must give you the correct address for the tape device.
