MDM for Equipment master

Can we implement MDM for equipment master?

Hey Anoop,

I think it's possible to implement Equipment Master in MDM (since it some what similar to Material Master).

MDM 7 will be more suitable than MDM 5, for this kind of implementations (using tuples).

Hi Experts,

Do you agree on this? If yes, what could be the business benefits of implementing MDM for equipment master. As far as I know Equipment master creation is triggered automatically in ECC. Is my understanding correct? Is it possible to implement MDM in such scenario.

Yes , Equipment master can be modeled in SAP MDM through the use of a custom repository as out-of-box business contents are not provided by SAP . Recently I came across an opportunity where they wanted to implement MDM for equipment master due to following reasons :

• Maintain a complete Equipment/Location wise hierarchy at a central place

• To be able to consolidate similar equipments across plants

• Cleanse existing Equipment masters

• Effective data management (Search , Author , Update etc.)
