Where has your company installed the SAP Web Dispatcher?

We are looking to use the Web Dispatcher to load balance HTTP request from SAP Portal to ECC. So the WD should be between the SAP Portal and the ECC system. We are already using HW to load balance our SAP Portal.

Our question is where to install the WD? Where has most clients installed the WD? Some of our options are as follows:

1) Install WD on a separate server

2) Install WD on the CI of the ECC system

3) Install WD on one of the ECC Application Instance

4) Any other options?

Thanks,

Alan

Hi,

In that case if the hardware ressources permit it, I would install the web dispatcher on the CI server.

You don't need a separate server and it does not create a new single point of failure.

If the CI server crashes then anyway you will not miss your web dispatcher.

Olivier

In a customer we installed the SAP Webdispatcher in HA scope (OS cluster service) without problems. This service in node crash to be failover with other SAP SPOF services (ASCS, SCS), but also you can install in stand alone system centralizing the HTTP for ABAP and Java requeriments. You think who is the major option!
