Can we update SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EHP1 to SAP NetWeaver 7.1 CE?

Hi,

I have installed SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EHP1 in our client machine.

Now, they have an unique scenario.

They have their central SLD as SAP NetWeaver 7.1 CE.

Their Portal Server is SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EHP1 SP4.

They also deployed many appliactions like SAP IS-R-SRS on the Portal Server.

Now, they want to upgared the portal server to SAP NetWeaver 7.1 CE

as the NWDI track SLD is pointing to the Portal SLD instead of Central SLD.

Also, in Portal Visual Admin, they have set the SLD Data Supplier as Central SLD.

Now, my question is SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EHP1 SP4 is a different product compared to

SAP NetWeaver 7.1 CE. So, it looks like fresh installation. Then also Business Packages

deployed in Portal should be of the CE. Also, SAP NertWeaver CE uses JDK 1.5 and SAP NetWeaver

7.0 EHP1 SP4 uses JDK 1.4. So, architechly it's totally different.

Please let me know, is it possible to upgrade or I should go for fresh installation.

Hi,

Netweaver 7.0 Enterprise Portal is a different product than Netweaver Composition Environement 7.1.

So I don't think that there is an upgrade path.

could you please share your thougths for SAP NW 7.0 EHP1 installation.
