How to upgrade from Solman 7.0 to 7.0 EHP1?

Hi,

In the SAP note 1169247, it talks about doing the upgrade from 7.0 to EHP1 using SAINT and JSPM. But in the Upgrade Guide SAP Enhancement Package 1 for Solution Manager 7.0 - UNIX Oracle˝, it talks about running the upgrade using an Upgrade MAster DVD.

1. Now is this the same as the EHP installer? If so, why is it not mentioned anywhere in the upgrade guide that we have to use EHPI? If not, what is this Upgrade Master installer?

2. Should I use SAINT/JSPM for the upgrade to solman 7.01?

Hi Ajay,

1. EHPI installer is entirly different thing. You can compare that with ur SAPup which u use for upgrading. ehp installer cannot be used for solman. Also, this tool is widely used to upgrde to ECC ehp4 although it can be used for the rest.

2. As ur version is 7.0, u need to go with SPAM/SAINT and JSPM for 7.01.

Just another question, if EHPI is for upgrading ECC, SPAM/SAINT and JSPM for update of Solman, Portal, BI, PI etc to 7.01,

what is the use of SAPup R3 and SAPup Java?

Hi Ajay,

You can use SPAM/SAINT and JSPM for ECC also. But the EhPI cannot be used for Solman. And SAP up R3 and SAPup Java are tools used for the SAP upgrade, say from ECC 4.6 to 6.0.

Hi,

You can follow the SAP note - 1169247 for upgrading the Soluion Manager 7.0 to EHP1.And do follow the SAP note 1244225 for recommended corrections after the EHP1 upgrade.

For Solution Manager,whether it is 64bit or 32bit,we need to upgrade EHP using SAINT and JSPM.

For ECC and othe NW systems based on 32bit,EHP upgrade will be done by SAINT

For ECC and othe NW systems based on 64bit,EHP upgrade will be done by EHP Installer.

Hi Ajay,

I had the same question a few day's ago.

The difference between these two methods are the word updarte and upgrade.

If you are on Solman 7.0 you have to do a update with SPAM/SAINT.

If you are on Solman 3.0 or something you have to do a upgrade with the master dvds. You can read this on one of the first sites of the upgrade guide.

So you have to use SPAM/SAINT, and the Update Guide for EHP1 Using SPAM/SAINT will help you.

Hi Ajay.

I also found the same thing. But you can perform then upgrade of solman to EHP1 with SAINT/JSPM.

You can also check SAP Note 1276895 - Add. info. about Upgrading to SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1
