Is there any effect on client role change from Customizing to Production

Our current ECC 6.0 PRODUCTION xxx client role is set to Customizing. The Users want to execute OB08 transaction to do the exchange rate maintenance. Users donu2019t have access to this transaction to execute as it comes under cross client maintenance. I have looked at these notes

Note 77430 - Customizing: Current settings

Note 78329 - Current settings cannot be maintained

An SAP FI consultant suggested to change the client role for Customizing to Production for this to work.

If we change the ECC 6.0 PRODUCTION xxx client role from Customizing to Production, Would there be any impact on the system ? , if so what will be effected

No impact on the system itself, but you have to make sure that settings in SCC4 are correct.

Also, the fact that you cannot run OB08 can be related to the System Change Option settings in SE03, set them to modifiable, but if its a production system this changes should be transported from your QA system

also, why you have set your Production client as customizing ? It should be Production and no changes allowed.
