Hi all,

we're planning to implement SolutionManager and now we have to discuss on which plattform, Linux or AIX.

What are the advantages / disadvantages for these platforms running SAP Solution Manager on it. Is there an existing document, where the advantages oder disadvantages are listed!?

Kind regards

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

As in most SAP Installations, OS is just a matter of personal taste or what OS administrators like most in your landscape.

If you already have any of this licenses keys (OS) then just go ahead and install Solman, remember that it is transparent for the end user if this is Windows, Linux or Unix, they will see the same screens in any of them. Comunications between Solman and Managed Systems uses RFC's or TCPIP so there is no problem either.

What is really important in some landscapes is how many functionalities are you going to use from Solman because this will require more or less HW or even Solman on top of High Availability Hardware. Be carefull with the minimum HW requirements and add a little more RAM to be sure you won´t be waiting for ever whenever you try to access Workcenters or some other transactions.

Have a nice day
