Copy with reference

Hi Experts,

I am working on PI 7.0 with SP 16. I want to re-use some of the data types I have already created in different software component. For this I am looking for copy with reference option so that in future if I make changes to original data type that will reflect in newly copied data type as well. When I right click on the data type and select 'Copy' I have only option to copy all dependent objects but I do not see the option of copying with reference. Could you please give your inputs on how to achieve this?

Hi Prasad,

If your requirement is just to re-use the datatypes, why dont you create the reusable datatypes in some shared namespace and use the same datatypes across different SWCV's where ever applicable? If you do so, you need not worry abt the changes to be done to the shared DT any time...!!
