IDOC ---> to XI ---> Vendors

What are all the design time points that I need to remember for the above scenario?

If there is any sample design document available?

thanks.

Hi Rohini,

IDoc-XI-Venodr(https)

Design Time and Configuration Time-

1) Idoc structure and import this into IR,

2) Idoc configuration to send the data into XI (Partner profile, logical systems , port maintenance(IDX1 entry) etc

3) Target structure, Mapping Rules

4) Type of communication, ie. Acknowledgement required or not?

5) Is the flow of messages/idocs into XI is an AddHoc process or scheduled in the Application Side?

6) Are you going to collect multiple idocs in XI - if so, you need to use BPM collect patterns here. If your scenario is just One Idoc ->XI->Vendor then BPM is not required.

Check this blog-

Thanks Krishna. Coming to your point

How does XI design is going to be different for the Immediate and for Batch processing?

Hi,

How does XI design is going to be different for the Immediate and for Batch processing?

Here AddHoc means, one idoc at a time . So it is like one idoc ->XI->Target.. So no collection, etc. Whenever Application triggers the idoc, it will be sent to XI.

But if batch means, you may need to collect all the idocs at a time in XI and send one message. (N:1) mapping with BPM is required to collect the idocs.

Let us say that, if R/3 is going to collect the IDOCS and they are going to send the IDOCs in batch , then there is no need of a BPM!!!.

Whats your opinion Krishna.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Rohini,

If you send Idoc package from R/3, in XI it will be one message for one idoc.

As per the normal understanding, batch means one message we need to get from R/3 with multiple idocs. But it is not happening that way.

BPM is required here !!!
