Support Package still running in Import_proper phase ( KB70017)

Dear all,

When i appling Basis Support Package ( KB70017) , still its running the import_proper phase and its running around 12 hours .

kindly suggest me to resolve the issue

3.After solving the problem you have to restart the import of the broken down basis support package on the OS level with the help of the transport program" tp"....
The syntax is :
"tp r3i <request> <SID> pf=<Name incl. Path to the transport profile> tag=spam -Dclientcascade=yes -Drepeatonerror=8"

follow above solution to be applied from OS level to complete the process......It will completes the patch applying process

Why you have restarted the server, while support patch is going on?

Have you taken any backup before applying support patch...if yes, then why you are not preffering restore?

Read prerequisites of supprot patch implementation

Hi,

First check the Logs in the /usr/sap/trans/log or /usr/sap/trans/tmp directory.

Also check the tablespaces sizes and make sure to have sufficient size at the DB level.

If the Supportpack upgrade got stopped and

If you checked everything above,do the following steps carefully -

1.The import buffer entry for the request must still be available (mostly with RC=12) to be able to call the tp. Check this with: tp showbuffer <SID> tag=spam pf=<...transport profile>

2.Than you have to find out the cause of the error...The error must be visible in the corresponding SAPI*.<SID> log file

(Directory /usr/sap/trans/log) The actual cause of the error must be found and eliminated (possibleDB errors / locks etc...)

3.After solving the problem you have to restart the import of the broken down basis support package on the OS level with the help of the transport program" tp"....

The syntax is :

"tp r3i <request> <SID> pf=<Name incl. Path to the transport profile> tag=spam -Dclientcascade=yes -Drepeatonerror=8"

4.This import can be monitored if it is running via the latest file in the DIR_TRANS/tmp directory

Hi,

The fastest and safest way will be to restore/recover.

Reverting back the changes one by one thru version control is messy specially if it's a support pack (and what's corrupted are the main modules)

Hi,

As mentioned earlier,First check for which support pack the system got stuck(mostly with RC=12) using the following command -

tp showbuffer <SID> tag=spam pf=<...transport profile>

Accordingly restart the import of support pack using the following command -

tp r3i <request> <SID> pf=<Name incl. Path to the transport profile> tag=spam -Dclientcascade=yes -Drepeatonerror=8

Dont restart the system during the import.
