MDIS/MDSS Services Failing

Hi All

We are running MDM 5.5 SP06 (5.5.64.012), on a Windows 64 server, SQL Server 2005. Running one large server we have MDS, MDSS and MDIS services.

What we are seeing is that from time to time (about twice a month) the MDIS and MDSS services just to stop up. That is, the xmls files are left queuing for import and records in the repositories are not syndicated. The services seem to be running when we check, but we need to do a stop and start of both the MDIS and MDSS to get the services back up and running.

Any ideas as to why the MDSS/MDIS would seemly just stop working like this? Anyone know how we can avoid this happing?

Kind Regards

CCR

We had similar issues - we found that although services appeared running, when you look in Event Viewer under the 'System' section you can find an "Application Popup" from the service giving a runtime error and something about an R6025 pure virtual function call error.

From some work with SAP, we believe the issue is fixed in a later release which we'll be moving to in a few weeks time. In the meantime we just have a script which runs once per hour stopping and starting the services (net stop and net start commands). Not beautifiul, but if the service does jam up it won't be more than an hour before it picks up again.

Hi CCR,

Similar issues to the one you are facing were solved in higher versions of MDM 5.5 SP06 (Access Violation messages). You should look for errors in the logs and check in the Release notes to see if there are fixes in higher versions for these errors.

Hope this information helps,

Hi CCR

It is may be a system error.

You can look at system events log and search error message from MDIS/MDSS
