HI,
For an article, say article 123456, we can process a sales order for a certain sales org / distribution channel. say 1000 / 10. however, we want to discontinue this process. How do I set this up in the system, so it won't allow anymore an article 123456 to be sold under sales area 1000/10. I'm thinking of changing the article master? But how should it be done?
Thanks in advance !

Go to transaction MM42.
select the sales views with the sale org and distribution channel you want (1000/10).
fill in the value in field DChain-spec.(MVKE-VMSTA) then the material won't be able to used specific sales org / distribution channel anymore.
Distribution-chain-specific material status
Indicates whether, for a specific distribution chain, the material may be used in individual functions in Sales and Distribution.
Use
The distribution-chain-specific material status restricts the usability of the material for the distribution chain concerned, that is, it defines whether a warning or error message is displayed if you include the material in a particular function.
Example
The material may be a part under development or one to be discontinued.

Hi
You can use following tcodes
u2022 Client Wide Articles Discontinuation (T.Code WSE1)
u2022 Article Discontinuation for the vendor (T.Code WSE2)
u2022 Article Discontinuation for Distribution Chain (T.Code WSE3)
u2022 Article Discontinuation for Assortment (T.Code WSE4)
Make sure the there should not any documents created(PO) for the article which you want to discontinue

Hi Chaiphon,
Thanks for your reply.
I followed your instruction, changed the "DChain-spec" field value from " " to "DC" (actually there are three options: CR- just created; DC - discontinued; TB - temporarily blocked; I chose DC) for the sales area 1000/10 valid starting today, 1/15/2010(maintaining fields MVKE-VMSTD & MVKE-VDVFL) Right away, after this change, I tried creating a sales order for my article for this sales area. Though the article master is already updated per your recommendation, the sales order was still created with a warning message "Article xxx has statuts: Discontinued". It should had been a error message so that the sales order (for my article with sales area 1000/10) would not have been created. Perhaps there's still a setting to done in IMG, to make it an error message. Pls advise.

Zenon

Hi Satish,
Thanks for your reply.
Your solution does not solve my requirement. The article should be discontinued only on certain sales area (sales org/ distribution channel), so that I cannot sell it anymore to a customer in sales area 1000/10. But still, I should be able to purchase this article from my vendor.

Zenon,
Yes there is more configuration that you need to set to make it error message.
please go to IMG->Logistics - General->Material Master->Settings for Key Fields->Data Relevant to Sales and Distribution->Define Sales Statuses.
You can create a new status and change all the block messages to 'B' if you want error message.
Cheers,
Chaiphon.
