Hi Experts,
I have a requirement of using log4j logging with WebDynpro Java application. For this, I created an external library DC which contains the log4j Jar file. Then,I created a J2EE library DC which uses the external library DC as used DC to deploy it on the server.
After that, I created a java DC which contains the log4j.properties file and a java class containing method to read the properties file and create the log. I created a J2ee library DC which includes the java DC as used DC to deploy it on the server.
Then, I created a webDynpro DC where I've added both the library DCs as used DCs and also gave a library reference for both the library DCs.
Now,the problem i'm facing is that if i run the java class locally, the log file gets created on my machine but when i deploy the WebDynpro application calling the same method on the server, it does not create any log.
Please provide pointers regarding what could be the reason for the issue and how to resolve this.
Hi,
Have you tried using the logging bridge which SAP provides? It might help you in this case. What it basically does is take your logs, and pass them over to the NetWeaver logging infrastructure. I've used in a couple of web applications running on the Application Server, I think it shouldn't be a problem to use it in your scenario.
You can find more information on it [here|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/20ecb0f4-ccb0-2a10-46aa-ceee8895f34b?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true].

Hi..
I'm using log4j.properties file and I've put the log4j.jar in the external library DC.
log4j.properties is in my javadc where i'm having the java class to implement logging.

I have some questions before any help:
Are you using a properties or a xml file?
Are you deploying the jar files in a separated DC?
In what NW version is going to be implemented?
Regards,
Omar

Give some details about where and how you are using the log4j.properties?
Content of your log4j.properties?
did you referenced the deployed library in your project because compile time linking is different from the run time.
