SMTP Netweaver 7.0 setup

Former Member

I recently upgraded my company from 46.C to ECC 6.0 and Netweaver 7.0.

Now I would like to migrate the send mail function of SAPConnect. Right now it is still running on my old DEV server. I only want to send reports as attachments via email, I do not want to receive email into SAP.

I see from the notes 455127 and 455140 that there is a new way to set up the mail that does not involve the MLUNXSND program. I tried following note 455127.

When I try to send I get this message

Internal error: CL_SMTP_RESPONSE ESMTP error code is not known. 500 500 Command EHLO not known.

For the SMTP setup on the AS/400 I followed the same steps that were used under the 4.6C method. Is there something I need to do differently there? Does anyone have a good procedure for this?

Thanks,

Alan Novick

Hi Alan,

Check if you have the SP level of note 1331021. Your symptom is described there.

Thomas,

Thank you for your reply. I did see that note. It calls for support package SAPKB70021. However I don't see how to download this support package. When I go to the service marketplace the latest available package is 20. When I click on the link to SAPKB70021 in note 1331021 it takes me to a page that describes the package but the "Add to Download Basket" button is grayed out and not clickable. I have opened a message to SAP on this.

Do you know if the Anynet/400 setup is still needed?

Thanks

Alan

Hi Alan,

SP 21 is not available and will show up mid of febraury. Right now, you need to apply the note.

Anynet and all of that is no longer needed with 7.0 )

... it is "just" an SMTP gateway, that works great

Hi Alan,

If the corresponding support package is not yet available it should be possible to apply the respective correction with help of the Note Assistant (transaction snote). Documentation for this method is available on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/noteassistant.

Thanks Thomas and Volker. I solved the problem by pointing directly to my STMP server (hosted on the outside) and skipping the Anynet setup. Now it works great. Much easier than the old setup. I did not need to apply the note.
