Hi Guys,
Is it possible to extend the tablespace using symbolic links? I'm using oracle 8 and 4.6C and currently the filesystem for the particular tablespace has reached to 99% and I've created a softlink pointing to a new lvm. I tried and adding a new datafile but it came out an error stated that this is a softlink. Thanks
Hi,
yes it is possible to use softlinks (I don´t know if it is possible with oracle 8 - because I have no oracle 8 installation to test but from 9 on it is possible),
If you have problems adding the datafile, first check the filesystem permissions (ora user and do a "touch bla.txt" to check your permmisions. After this delete the created file again
But the better way is to get a downtime of the SAP system and add the new volume as an sapdata2 directory to the filesystem structure. Then you can use it without the softlink.

Lukas

I don't think it is possible and more complexity.
And as well as not supported by sap
