can i manually install the MI application directly on the mobile device

if you are on Mi7.0, please check this out - may help, even it is a little outdated.

With MI7.1 you simply deploy the app from inside NWDS with porpper installed Mobile plugin.

Put the application Jar file in the webapps folder. Restart MI Client.

But you may not be able to sent or receive data unless its assigned to the device in the server..
