I created a file adapter with a connection mode of permanent. File/FTP. I would have thought this would have logged on the the source system once and then polled at whatever interval I specified.
The Unix admin is telling me XI is establishing a new connection each time which sounds like what per file transfer would do.
Is my understanding of the option correct. SAP library sheds little light.
Hi,
SAP Help~
Permanently
An existing connection to the FTP server is used permanently.
The connection is reestablished automatically if it is closed by the server.
Per File Transfer
A new connection to the FTP server is established for each file transfer
>>>I think in your case , it is closing automatically for each transfer
Just check this SAP note for Timeout handling -849089

Hi Mark,
did you check the configuration of the FTP server itself? Maybe the server has some kind of configuration so that it closes the connection after each transfer and thus forces XI to reestablish the connection?
If something like that happens, you should be able to see an entry in the XI logs in Visual Administrator. It should say something like "connection lost" or "connection was closed".
Regards
Christine
