Hi
When I try to install Oracle 10g on Windows 2008 (in a virtual machine) as part of PI 7.1 EHP1 installation, I receive a error message soon after the pre-requisites are checked. The error reads
Abnormal program termination. An internal error has occured. Please provide the following files to Oracle support
"unknown"
"unknown"
"unknown"
Please note that Java path and Java home are set. JRE is set to 1.6
thanks
Ravi
Hello Ravi,
you are using Windows 2008 64-Bit, right?
In this case you hit the problem that is described in metalink note #783296.1 (for metalink access check sapnote #758563)
You may receive this error while Installing 10.2.0.1 on Windows 2008 64 Bit server using the default 10.2.0.1 installer.
It is also recommended in the Metalink certify section as a special instruction to install the 10.2.0.4 version that is specific for MS Windows 2008 (x64).
Regards
Stefan

I made the changes in the following files instead of downgrade and it also worked:
1. C:\Oracle 10.2.0.4\database\install\oraparam.ini : Change entry Windows=5.0,5.1,5.2,6.0 to Windows=5.0,5.1,5.2,6.0,6.1
2. C:\Oracle 10.2.0.4\database\stage\prereq\db\refhost.xml: Include a tag for 6.1 also.
3. C:\Oracle 10.2.0.4\database\stage\prereq\db_prereqs\db\refhost.xml: Include a tag for 6.1 also.

We faced the same problem even though we were the CD title 51036975.
The problem was with the Windows 2008 R2 Version 6.10. We downgraded the 2008 R2 to 2008 standard and the oracle installation was completed successfully in 15 mins.

Hello,
Stefan is right here, on SAP side, note #1303262 was created that contains the exact medium number to be used for Oracle Installations on Server 2008 (medium 51036975).
Best Regards,
Michael
