Functionality of 'shift order'
Despite going through documentation, i am unable to understand the use of 'shift order'
Can anybody explain with an example?

Think about the following scenario.
A1 -> A2 -> A3.
There are three activities with duration 10 days. Assumed, all days are working day.
A1. Finally confirmed. (finished)
A2: Partially conirmed. (Started, but not finished yet), actual start = Jan. 01, actual finish = Jan 05. => Remaining duration = 5 days.
A3: not started yet.
Now the network has to shifted because of any reason to April. => Set basic start of Network header to April 01.
A1: not re-scheduling because of status.
A2: get scheduled start = April 01, scheduled finish = April 05.
A3. scheduled start = April 06, scheduled finish = April 16.
The case above is the simple usage of this shift functionality.
The confirmation information are partially ignored, e.g. actual start and actual finish. But the remaining duration (and forecase finish) are still taken into account.
