Sofar we use RMAN to to both backup and recover.
Can we switch the backup portion to TSM?
Thanks!
Hello Jessica,
yes of course .. IBM provides two products.
Tivoli Data Protection for Enterprise Resource Planning (TDP for mySAP)
http://www-01.ibm.com/software/tivoli/products/storage-mgr-erp/
Tivoli Data Protection for Oracle (TDPO)
http://www-01.ibm.com/software/tivoli/products/storage-mgr-db/
The main difference between both products is, that you can use the BR*Tools with TDP for mySAP and you will get support by SAP. TDPO is cheaper and you have to do your RMAN backups manually with RMAN backup scripts. With TDPO you don't get support by SAP - only by Oracle.
Regards
Stefan
P.S.: We switched from TDP for mySAP to TDPO for our SAP systems ... TDPO is running well.

Hello Jessica,
if you still want to use the initSID.sap / initSID.utl file - you are talking about TDP for mySAP.
In this case you have to configure the TSM client / TDP for mySAP and change some parameters.
Here is the official documentation for TDP for mySAP:

you can still use RMAN to backup and restore... but also go through TSM. You need the TSM Oracle backup agent which you might already have.
go look for IBM red books about backup RMAN through TSM.
