Printer Setup for BVR

Hi Experts,

Printer Setup for BVR: To overcome the problem of availability of the specific driver for our printer, we are doing tests using, as a local printer, a driver for "HP Laserjet 4000 Series PS" which is giving good results of compatibility. We need to know if SAP supports this generic driver for the family of printers, in order to assess the ability to configure the printer in SAP in this manner. Where can I find this information?

Other parallel printers, are handled with an adapter interface "HPJetdirect 500 X": for this you know tell me if is supported by SAP?

Thanks so much

Silvio

SAP has launched the Printer Vendor Program (PVP): each vendor is responsible to update its dedicated PVP SAP note, and to maintain an output device creation wizard (from 7.0 SP 14). You'll find more information in SAP notes.

The client has the responsibility to test the printers before using them.

You can use correctly only printers whose language is "spoken" by SAP: PCL, PostScript, ZPL, Prescribe, ...

SAP does not support special printer functionalities.

You may have to create your own device types if the existing one are not sufficient (like defining printer-specific commands in print controls for example).

etc.

SAP support won't help except if you show there is a bug somewhere.

You may ask SAP consulting assistance.
