We have a requirement to trace x_server and check x_server status.
Would you please help inform us how to change its trace level and the location of the trace files?
Thanks !
Hi Christy,
xserver_<computer_name>.prt is log file that you can check for X Server specific log details.
To know the status of your xserver
On Windows
SAP MaxDB installation program registers xserver as service XServer, sets the Startup Type for this service to Automatic and starts the service. So check if this service in started mode
Unix/Linux
xServer is not automatically installed as a service. You can either enter xserver in the appropriate startup scripts for your operating system or start it manually as and when required. After startup, xerver runs in the background as process vserver. When starting xServer, a special process for supporting the SAP NI network protocol is started.
for starting in unix
x_server start
I hope this helps you.
Regards
Sekhar
