What is the difference between LC re-initialization and recovery?

I get confused about the 2 concepts.

If a file is corrupted in LC, can we do a re-initialization instead of a recovery?

Thanks a lot!

Hello,

1. In case the data/log volumes corruption, for example, the reason of the issue has to be checked first.

If you have the hardware problems, it has to be fixed. May be the location of the log/volumes

has to be changed. May be you have to use another server for the liveCache instance.

If you have scheduled data/log backups as recommended by SAP and the data/log backups

could be used < available/not corrupted > for the liveCache recovery, you could run the

u201C initialization with recoveryu201D or re-initialize liveCache for the recovery, if you need to change

the data/log volume configuration. Then continue with the recovery of the data backup, log backups in sequence.

As you know after initialization the liveCache will be empty.

In case the data/log backups are not available to recover the liveCache, you could run the

liveCache initialization in LC10, see more details in the SAP note:

640107 Using program /sapapo/delete_lc_anchors in APO 3.0 or higher

< As you saw in the note, with this solution the transactional data will be lost. You need to run the initial transfer from the connected R/3 system to get the transactional data back. >

For SAP liveCache documentation please see the SAP note 767598.

2. As SAP customer, you could create the SAP ticket and get SAP support to find the best solution for your case.

You wrote, that "If a file is corrupted in LC". What file? Please post more details.
