Hi there,

could someone please advise WHY we cannot have two different customer-material nos for the same material. I read in few threads that we can one by giving space and then entering the material number. However, it is not working. Also, I read that it can be created by going back to VD51 abd creating it as a ew record altogether and even ths isn't working. It says "this info is already there and willbe imported".

Could someone please advise WHY it is not possible to have deplicate entry.

Sorry, but this is SAP standard. Material number is the key field so can't add the same material more than once.

One way around this is to use Material Determination instead of Customer-material info records. But this will involve some use of user exits to fully replicate the functionality.

As you yourself had rightly said, giving a space before customer part number or with prefix or suffix dot against the same customer material code will definitely be accepted and you can save the record in VD51. But this is not recommended
