envoirment variable on linux for sap installation

Dear All,

I m trying to install SAP ecc6 on my laptop . i downloaded O/S RHEL 5.0 trial version of 15 days . I m having 32 bit O/S.

I am new in Linux.i m few doubt:-

1.Does i need to install loop back adpater as i do in 2003 server.

2.Which envoirment variable have to set

I set all these envoirment variable

java version

command # java -version

java path

ex./opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142/bin

JAVA_HOME Variable

export JAVA_HOME=/opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142/bin

JAVA PATH Variable

export PATH=/opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142/bin:$PATH

SAPINST PATH Variable

export PATH=SAPINST_JRE_HOME=/opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142/bin:$PATH

Any other Variable i need to set?

Need ur sugestion?

Hi Ashok,

I feel you should check the SAP installation guide before you start any installation.

Also check related notes mentioned in the installation guide.

Dear Raghu,

I gone through the installation guide provided by SAP. Just for my confirmation i m asking If u did installation on 32 bit let me know?

Hi Ashok,

PATH and JAVA_HOME environment variables should suffice to start the installation.

For other parameters check SAP Note 171356 -SAP software on Linux: Essential information

What about loop back adapter how to configure or its not nessasary to configure in RHEL 5.0 as i m installing in personal laptop.

and i have downloaded trail version od enterprise edition of linux..does it work or not

?

Yes, you need to configure a network in order to run the system.

Again - read the installation guide, read the installation guide, read the installation guide and just follow them step-by-step.

The note mentioned contains all supported and working Linux distributions.
