Can we default Item categoty:L in component overview screen of CJ20N?
In need to maintain procurement indicator which is pointing to item category L in your network profile. So, if you are using these network profile system will default Item category L in project builder.

Dear Mr. Singh,
To have the Component Item Category defaulted as L (stock Item), pls make the followings settings in SPRO:
Go to SPRO>Project System>Materials>Procurement>Define procurement indicators for material components
Create a new entry and maintain the following data:
Proc. Ind. ( for example: ABC) & its diescription ( Test)
PRIORITY :(By entering priorities for the various stock types, you can control in which stock type a component is kept. If, for instance, you enter priority 1 for plant stock, the system will keep the component primarily in plant stock.)
Priority Plant : 1/2/3 as per need
Priority Projects: 1/2/3 as per need
Prioirty SO: 1/2/3 as per need
Default Item Catergory:
Here, you maintain the item categoty as L ( Stock Item)
Now, again go to SPRO>Project System>Structures>Operative strcuture>Network>Settings for Networks>Maintain network profiles. In your network profile, maintain ABC (procurement indicator maintained above) in the "PROCUREMENT" field
Once you have saved your network profile, ensure that the same Network profile is also maintained in the Project Profile under the PLG BOARD/DATES tab in the "NETWORK PROFILE" field.
Once all these settings are maintained, whenever you will attach a material component to an activity, the item category will be defaulted as L.
I am sure this will work, for any clarification, pls revert.
Best Regards,
Vikas D.

Item Category for Component can be defaulted from customization itself.
Path:
Login --> SPRO --> SAP Reference IMG --> Plant Maintenance and Customer Service --> Maintenance and Service Processing ---> Maintenance and Service Orders --> General Data --> Define Default values for component Item categories
Hope this will help in Network as well
