How to call business workflow in PI?

How to call business workflow in PI and vice versa? Can I implement it using idoc adapter or RFC adapter?Or is it possible to expose the workflow to a web service?

Any help will be appreciated.

Our actual requirement is to trigger business workflow in PI,and we want to use the soap adapter to implement it.
