DP fsct - can we use history of last 52 mondays to fsct for next 52 monday

Hi Experts,

We have special requirement of using historical data for forecasting in a way that, system should consider the history of last X Monday's to forecast for next X Mondays & so on...[day-over-day (e.g. previous 3 Mondays to predict the next Monday)] type.

Is it possible to configure the system in this way? If yes, how to do the same?

Also, there will be 3-4 types of historical data available for forecasting. If the weightage should be given to each of the data for forecasting, in this case, what settings need to be maintained so that the weightage % can be changed by planner?

Hi,

you will have to create a storage bucket profile in 'Days' and assign that to the planning area. Also, a storage bucket profile in 'DAYS - Dataview" with a time stream id defined in days should give you the necessary results. You might have to create a separate calendar picking only 'Mondays' and would need to assign the calendar while defining the time stream.

With regard to the weightage, you can create a new KF and business can enter/maintain the percentage required and a default macro should be able to calculate the new figures.

Now, if we create separate calender & key figure for each day forecasting, the data view will look pretty complex. Is there any alternative way to achieve desired result?

Does SAP has defined forecast strategies which will take care for such calculation?

Hi Jay,

The forecast strategy 10 should help you with the forecast as long as you have history data also in days. The process is going to be performance intensive if you are looking at daily bucket'ed' storage profiles, but again depends on the number of KF in the data view. Would the business consider forecasting in daily buckets for the first 3-6 months followed by weekly forecasts for the remaining periods.
