Hi all,

we are using discontinued material and followup material. now in ppds i want the system to plan for follow up material when there is no stock for discontinued part. Can anyone tell the settings required. This setting is there in R3 in MRP 4 view. But in product master the this field is missing.

Hi Vinay,

In APO, the discontinued materials will not be planned once if the

model is not active.

In your case, this has to be planned for planning the follow up material

based on its stock.

Hence, you need to make the stock of discontinued material visible

in APO-PPDS by activitating the models.

Hi,

Discontinued material and follow up material feature ecc is analogous to Product interchangability in APO PPDS. To use stocks of discontinued part first then transfer excess demand to substitute product you can use useup strategy setting.

This is not maintained in APO product master. This is seperate master data.

Hi Vinay,

Unlike R/3 its not so straight forward in APO for product substitution. Nevertheless you get lot more features & functionalities than in R/3. A simple product substitution during discontinution can be model using Supersession Chains.

1. Create a Product Interchangeability group through /INCMD/UI

2. Provide a group name and define whether the interchangeability will be across locations or specific to a particular location

3. Give the successor product and predecssor product along with valid from date (or discontinution date)

4. In case you want the stocks to be used up completely before switching to new product, then you have to select the use-up strategy as well

5. Assign the interchangeability group in the active model

System will automatically assign a planning package to the respective products in the product master. When you run the heuristics this will be considered.

Dear Rajesh Manoharan,

Thanks for your valuable feedback. I did all the setting which you have told. but i did not get the output. When i went through the links that you have sent, it says it does not support CTP Heuristic, which i am currently using. Is there any other way to run this scenario as i cannot change the heuristic at this point of time.
