NON Archive log mode

Hi,

BI Production system database is running archive log mode. when ever loading data to qube it is generating huge no of archive log files.

can we run db in non archive log mode. what are all the impact if i run in non archive log mode.

Hi

Running the DB in No -Archive Log mode , will mean that you will not be able to use any online backups for recovery and restore process. Also it would require a database restart.

If it is Non-prod , think you can go for No -Archivelog. But u must be aware that u can recover only upto the point ofyour last archive log. Also once in no-archive log mode - you will need offline backups.

Is this your Production System ? If yes, one option would be for you to run the brarchive job ( to clear the archive logs , I presume that you are running one ) in a higher frequency so that the archive directory does not get filled up . Higer frequency would be like every 1 hr.
