I have set the parameter STAR_TRANSFORMATION_ENABLED to TRUE in ECC 5 (ERP 2004) system running on oracle 10.2.0.2 as per oracle 10g parameter recommendation note by SAP (Note 830576 - Parameter recommendations for Oracle 10g). Just want to confirm if this is ok? Is this parameter dependent on any other parameter? Should I keep this parameter or remove it.
STAR_TRANSFORMATION_ENABLED to TRUE
This parameter is a recommended parameter in Oracle 10g, please check SAP Note:830576 for more details.

Hi Deepen
STAR_TRANSFORMATION_ENABLED should be set TRUE for OLAP system ( Like SAP BI) which normally improves query response time. Setting this as true for BI system chages oracle execution plan.
Excerpt from Note 830576 is below.
"In a few exceptional cases, if you have a system without OLAP, you can refrain from setting OLAP specific parameters such as STAR_TRANSFORMATION_ENABLED, FIXCONTROL or INDEXJOIN_ENABLED to avoid problems (for example, ORA-04031 due to FIXCONTROL, Note 997889) or to use functions (for example, index joins). Note that such scenarios are only relevant in very rare situations. Therefore, you do not usually have to deviate from the standard recommendations"
and your ECC system is OLTP system i. e without OLAP.
Thanks and Regards
