Can we monitor 64-bit portal (EP7.0) with 32-bit solman (SM7.0 SP15)?

Its a bit confusing, because we will have to use 32-bit solman diagnostics and Wily enterprise mgr

and 64-bit smd agent and Wily agent.

Needed to know if this is do-able and whether this has been tried before.

Actually our portal is going live and we want to schedule a go-live or EWA check. We understand that for this we need to have EWA for the portal and thats the reason why we intend to set it up. However, if there is a workaround such that we need not setup EWA, please let me know.

Thanks

Prasad

No you cant. The SMD server & diagnostics server will be 32-bit and the SMD agent & diagnostics agent will be 64-bit. And I dont think these are designed to communicate with each other.

Besides, even if they are technically compatible, you rather do it for testing or learning purposes instead of implementing it at the customer since there is no telling what complications it may throw up during operations support. Besides, whether you will get support from SAP during operations is highly debatable.

Prasad,

If you want to schedule GO LIVE with SAP, you don't need to have EWA setup.

EWA is set up to get system report weekly basis how it is performing. If you want EWA for Portal system, you need SMD configured.

As per SAP Documentation, this is not recommended but doable.

SAP will support End-to-End Root Cause Analysis with an ABAP stack on non-Unicode as of SAP Solution Manager 7.0 SP13, until the customer has completed the Unicode conversion. Furthermore, add-ons to SAP Solution Manager as well as managed systems including kernel and ST-(A)PI require minimum versions that are documented in note 1010428.

Please go to www.service.sap.com/diagnostics and refer FAQs under Installation and Configuration section.
