how to maintain production version for material and how it will work

Dear Friends,

i have created alternative bom for a material , My FG is having two RM1 and RM2. like below,

FG --->RM1

FG---->RM2

i created alternative BOM. how it will fetch raw materils from BOM while doing production confimation. what is meant by production version and how to configure that. how it will work

Hi,

Production version is combination of BOM and Routing.

T code MM02 on MRP 4 view click on Production version button. Enter Version, Text and validity start and end date. Then press enter.

Production version button then select version and press Detail. Enter Lot size, Group counter, group, BOM usage and hit check button.

From this routing selected as version, lot size with help of Routing counter routing get selected.

Dear Raja karthik,

1.Production version is a combination of BOM & Routing in Discrete scenario & in REM scenario its a

combination of BOM & Rate routing/Routing.The same can also be created only containing the BOM incase if it is going to be

used for a sub-contracting purchase info record.

2.Production version is a method or technique which's is used to produce a material.

3.A Material may be having one or more than one production version.

4.Production version can be differentiated by using either the validity date or Lot size range.

5.Say For Eg: Prod.Version1 --> Alt BOM1 & Routing1

Prod.Version2---> Alt BOM2 & Routing 1.

6.It has the status Locked and unlock.We can lock it when it is to blocked for any usage purpose.

6.Generally its created using T code MM02,by selecting MRP4 view and clicking on Production version key.

7.It's a master data in REM scenario.

8.Production versions can also be created using T code C223 for more than one material.

9.Planned independent requirements can be created production version specific in MD61.

Dear Raja,

The Production version is used to get the corect combination of BOM and routing in the production order. If u have more then one BOM for one product or more then one Routing then u can maintain this information as Production Version in the system.

Go to Material Master (MM02) and go to either "MRP4" view or "Work Scheduling" View. Click on the production version, then give the production version no. (just like any serial no.). enter the valid from date as today's date and valid from date as the date up to when u want to use that production version. Then double cick or click on details. then inside just give the "Lot Size" may be 9999999 or as per your business requirement. In Task List select "Routing" ( if u r using discrete scenario) then give ur routing group no. In BOM, give the BOM Usage as "1" and alternative as "1" or "2" as per the bom selected. In this way u can create two production versions. And when u create production order then go to "Master Data" Tab, tere u can change ur production Version as per ur requirement.

U can create Production Versions in Mass also with Transaction Code "C223"
