Hi Guru's,
We have a factory in German that runs PP and we are considering implementing PP-PI. Germany are are on SCM but we will want to use SCM too. We will use the same R/3 and APO box.
Can the same APO box support discreet manufactruing AND process manufacturing?
Thanks
Hi,
Yes - no issue as your material-plant data will either be routings or master recipes. APO can handle either. The question is whether you have Production versions in PP which you will need to create PPMs/PDSs. PPMs/PDSs are the equivalent of a materialProd versionrouting+BOM (or substitute the routing for master recipe). Check out SAP help regarding PPMs/PDSs and transferring them to APO/SCM. Production Data Structures have replaced Production Process Models

Hi Andrew,
You can use country specific APO applications as you require.
For this, you need to configure both in R/3 as well as in APO
accordingly in the same box.

Hi Andrew,
I wouldn't get too hung up by industry specific solutions. As far as PPDS is concerned you have input components, your raw materials and output components, Finished, semi-finished Products. You have work centres/resources and durations. Therefore doesn't really matter if you are using PP or PP-PI
Cheers, Paul
I'm a bit slow today as first day back from hols......
So if we have PP (for Germany) and PP-PI (for the UK) in R/3 we can use "normal" PP/DS solutions and industry specific PP/DS solutions on the same APO box?
Thanks
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Of course, you can make use of the fullest possible advantages
in PPDS with the base as PP in R/3

Sorry for the delay in response.......
So will we be able to take advantage of Industry specific enhancemets for PP-PI functionality within PP/DS?
Thanks
Andrew
