You asked this question here:

http://www.sapfans.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=335507

And I suppose your problem is that you didn't do what was suggested:

check in /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run whether there is a script 'startsap'.

(Or maybe problem is that I am unable to understand your answer.)

In other words:

go to directory /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run and check if there is a script (or a file) with name 'startsap'.

hope this helps

This means that there is some problem with your environment variables or with permision with kernel directory.

Kindly check PATH variable if this contains correct values.

Thanks..

Environmental varibles point to the path of the location of the executables if the path is missing from the PATH environmental variable the command can't be executed.

So...

type command env to display the variables...

host:sidadm > env

You'll see a variable named PATH

PATH=...../usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run...

You need to have the path for the kernel in there otherwise it won't find the commands located on the kernel directory.

Hello,

sapenv.csh

.sapenv.sh

.sapenv_casapsol.cs

.sapenv_casapsol.sh

these are the environment variable value files that are reffered to by .profile file of sid<adm> and <dbsid>adm user for determining the environmental variable values.

Can you please let us know the value of Library path environment variable. For HP-UX the variable name is SHLIB_PATH.For some other Unix flavor OS' it is LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

Regards.

Ruchit.
