what is LOGGING n TRACING in xi/pi.?

Hello Experts,

Can any one tell me about LOGGING and TRACING in xi/pi.They both are same, if not give me the difference between them.

Also give me the steps to perform these actions.

Kindly provide me the links for these.

Hi Arjun,

Search in sdn before posting ,this thread answered mant times.

PI Integration Engine uses logging and tracing to log and analyze the processing steps of messages,we can set trace level values to 0 to 3.

if you set value is 0,loging information not stored,like that we can set value 3,its stores the all stpes executed in PI.refer below link

At glance, LOGGING is highly used to perform System Administrators

TRACING is for you/SAP/Developement consultants would be using.

LOGGING --> To enable message processing to be recorded in SXMB_MONI.

TRACING --> Select the amount of details that you need to see for each message processing....low trace level means less details...high trace level (3) means more details and hence less time to fill the XI DB.

Please make a search with keywords "LOGGING and TRACING" on SDN or you can even search in help.sap.com .... good explanation available.....also there is one blog by Michal on how to enable Logging.
