Delta upgrade ST-PI 2008_1_700

Experts,

I am upgrading/installing 2008_1_700 in EHP4 system. It got hung in DDIC_ACTIVATION phase. So I restarted the process but it just hung. Time stamp is not changing both for tmp and log file. I replaced latest tp and R3trans. I tried but no luck. Now even I cant reset it. On starting in background the status is coming as CPIC stopped. On dialog, tp buffer OK , its getting hung with that message. please help me out.

Are you applying your support pack on the Central instance?

Have you run program RDDNEWPP in clients 000 and your productive client? This will scheudle RDDIMPDP for you.

Is there a hanging TP or R3TRANS process at OS level?

check logs in /usr/sap/trans/tmp and /usr/sap/trans/log for more clues on what is hanging.

Hi Eric,

I got the issue from logs. Its showing RDDIMPDP could not be restarted. I scheduled the job but its in released status only. I cant figure out where the problem lies. from the system logs, so many logs stating

:Event handler: Event ################################ is not defined:.

WARNING: Background job RDDIMPDP could not be started or terminated abnormally.

Please check that the R/3 system is running.

Please check the system. Use transactions SM21, SM37, SM50.

Any thoughts?

Go to SM37. There should be terminated RDDIMPDP jobs. Check the logs and find out why it is getting terminated.

Whats the status on the import monitor and tp system log?... Any errors?
