64 bit application server for a 32 bit Oracle DB on ECC 6.0 ?

Hallo,

We are planning an upgrade from our current ECC 5.0 to an ECC 6.0 version.

We are now running our productive system on a Windows 2003 - 32 bit platform.

We do not have performance problems so far, and we might keep our actual hardware, but we'd like to move the SAP central instance onto a virtualized environment.

If we do keep our Oracle DB on the Windows 32 bit server, can we move the SAP central instance onto a Windows 64 bit environment?

Thanks very much in advance,

Eva

Hi, Sergo,

It looks like it is possible, I only have a doubt wether for Windows environments is exactly the same thing.

Thanks !!

In any case i'm strongly not recomended to use 32 bit for ECC 6.0

You will have problems .....

P.S. are you want to upgrade oracle to 10g or you already have 10g ?

Thanks Sergo.

It is a small installation, we'd like to keep the productive server hardware (we are running ECC 5.0 on it), but we'd split usage, so that we'd only keep Oracle DB on that phyisical server, wehreas we'd move the SAP central instance onto a VMWare 64 bit envirnoment, before upgrading to ECC 6.0
