Sap Restarted

Hi Gurus,

We are on SAP 4.6C with windows and oracle.

System was restarted which is not planned.

Now I want to know why and who restarted the system.

As I am new to windows, I just want to know what all the logs I need to check and where can I find them.

I have already checked the startsap.log file but there is no update in the file.

Note : System wan not available only for 1 min because of this restart.

Regards,

Sekhar

Hi Sekhar,

You can check below items

1. Check availability log in WORK directory to know how long the system was un-available and timelines

2. Check Start->Programs->Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer->System

You should see source of this incident log under 'evenlog' or 'USER32'

I hope this gives you enough evidence to find the details.

Thanks Sekhar,

I checked the system but couldnt find any log neither in SM21 nor in event viewer.

The only thing I observed is the system is unavailable 1 min.

Sekhar.

If the system was restarted I doubt you're going to find traces in SM21 as this is done from the OS... check the event viewer for logons and commands runned from the MMC.

Also, 1 min seems like a very short period for a full stop and full start... check if you had any network issues maybe... if it was a restart you'll see the restart process in SM21

Juan

Hello,

You can check in SM21 when the work processes were closed. Also if on windows you can find information in Event Viewer.

Hope that helps.

Thanks
