Business Process Monitoring - Java stack monitoring?

Hi all,

Is it possible to perform Java Stack Monitoring through Solution Manager BPM? For example, Component Monitoring, Message Monitoring,Index Administration,Cache Monitoring?

We have the latest ST-A/PI's loaded on Solution Manager and the monitored system, but I don't see any standard monitors which appear to facilitate Java Stack Monitoring.

Any help appreciated!

Hi John,

there's a way to include monitoring of message processing into BPMon in Solution Manager. It works a little different than the standard monitoring functionalities provided by BPMon. Basically, you need to set up Message-based alerting in your PI system. This can be done for message processing both in the ABAP and in the JAVA stack. The alerts that are created on erroneous messages can be forwarded from Runtime Workbench to PI's CCMS. In BPMon you need to set up an "Other CCMS monitor" where you provide the MTE name of the corresponding node. The alerts will then also be visible in BPMon.

You will find a detailed description of the setup procedure on SAP Service Marketplace:

To include also more system-related monitoring like Component Monitoring etc is not the basic idea of BPMon. Thus we're only able to re-use the corresponding technical MTE's in PI's CCMS if available. This can be done via the "Other CCMS Monitors" functionality, again.

Currently we're working on improving the BPMon also for non-ABAP components like the PI JAVA stack. Be sure that there will be some new monitoring features in the near future (probably next year).

For complete monitoring of Java systems used Solution Manager Diagnostics (SMD)

This is usually installed on the JAVA instance of a Solution Manager dual stack
