User should not be able to edit characteristics Value

Hi Friends

I have requirement where in a user creates a document with Two characteristics assigned to that Document.

Say CHAR1 and CHAR2.

When he creates DIR , He assigns value to these characteristics

CHAR1 = 666454

CHAR2 = 55333

No I want No other user to be able to change the values assigned to both CHAR1 and CHAR2.

Can this be possible.

If the values you are referring to are in an inspection lot, then no. There is no user level locking.

However, if the results are recorded, and all the characterisitcs are short term characteristics, then once the UD is made the results cannot be changed by anybody. Including the original person who recorded them.

If you are referring to general characteristics used in various parts of classiification in different modules, then the answer is no. There is not security at a user level like that. At least not that I am aware of. But you might want to ask in the securtiy forum.
