upgrading from 7.3.0

Yes, we are still actually using 7.3.0. Need to upgrade to the latest version. Seems i read somewhere that we'll need to do this in two steps. First by going to 7.5 and then moving on from there. Is this interium step needed and is that the correct point we need to move to first. Or, are there more levels to move through.

Thanks,

Bob

Dear Mr. MacDonald,

Are you SAP customer?

If yes, please let us know what SAP product you are using. You need to check first,

whether the latest MaxDB Version has been released for your product

version.

If you are using an SAP DB Version 7.3.00.25 or higher, you could upgrade from

7.3.00 to 7.6.00 as of Version 7.6.00.12, for example.

Please post more details about the database:

a) What is the version of the database? < build number ? >

b) What is the OS of the database server?

c) Do you have the Unicode database?

d) To what MaxDB version are you planning to upgrade?

e) Are you using the database with SAP product? What version?

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Yes, we are a SAP customer.

Currently we using SAPDb with SAP Content Server for a third party product called Readsoft.

version - 7.3.00.35

Build - 035-000-090-084

Unicode - No

All three instances of SAP are hosted by a third party. The Content Server abd SAPDb are local server,

Want to upgrade both the DB and content server to the newest versions possible as the current ones are quite out dated.

Thanks,

Bob

Hello Bob,

-> Are you using SAP CONTENT SERVER 6.30? 6.40?

-> What is the OS of the database server?

Using the SAP Product Availability Matrix (PAM) at

Hello,

1. Using the SAP Product Availability Matrix (PAM) at

service.sap.com/pam

please check what the MaxDB Versions have been released for your product version.

I assumed that you have WINDOWS SERVER 2003/IA32 32BIT, for example,

& SAP CONTENT SERVER 6.40 product.

=> According the PAM MAXDB 7.6 is the latest supported database version.

You are using an SAP DB Version 7.3.00.35, you could upgrade from 7.3.00 to 7.6.00 as of Version 7.6.00.12, see SAP Note 793550.

2. Please review the SAP notes ::

Note 919225 for Windows IA32 system requirements.

Note 793550 for Supplementary info about the MaxDB version upgrade to 7.6.

Note 1020175 for general questions about MaxDB installation, upgrade or applying a patch.

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
