GOTO ORACLE/ORA92/BIN and check for the file TNSLSNR.EXE may be it renamed to TNSLSNR.EXE~ so change it back to TNSLSNR.EXE and restart server

The Oracle DB is not mounted and open. After login to the idle instance as internal you need to issue the command startup open and the run all other sql commands.

Hi Neethu,

I've been through the dev_disp, dev_ms and dev_w0 that you've attached and the problem seems to be the same that i'd earlier faced.

OPS$ users should be created on the ORACLE database for R/3 users SAPService<SAPSID> and <SAPSID>ADM. It is done automatically during installation by the "oradbusr.sql" script. The problem you are facing is due to the fact that OPS$ user SAPR3 is not able to connect to the database at OS level. Refer note no. 40021 and 50088. Follow the steps for creating OPS$ user and grant access accordingly.

But before that i would recommend you a few things to try. Try and logon to oracle as sysdba and try resetting the password for SAPR3 user to "sap" at SQL level. Then try r3trans -d to check whether its connecting to oracle or not. If it connects then you dont have to follow the steps in note no. 50088. Your problem is already solved. But if incase r3trans -d still gives error then i would suggest you to follow all the steps laid out in note no. 50088 to create the OPS$ user, grant access and reset the password for SAPR3 user to default i.e. "sap".

I'm sure it would work!!!

Hi Neethu,

The instance ABC would not start coz the user SAPR3 is not able to connect to the database which is already mounted. I guess you have not been through note no. 50088 which has the step for resetting the password for SAPR3. I would suggest you to go through the note before doing this. Take the help of a DBA if thats possible for you. Follow the steps mentioned below:

Check for the entries in SAPUSER table.

If u find an entry for USERID='SAPR3' then follow the next steps orelse follow all the steps laid out in SAP note no. 50088 for creating OPS$ users.

If u find an entry for SAPR3 in SAPUSER table then execute the following update command on the SAPUSER table:

update OPS$ABCADM.SAPUSER set PASSWD='sap' where USERID='SAPR3';

(Considering ABC is your SAPSID)

Then execute the following command:

alter user sapr3 identified by 'sap';

If the above commands execute successfully then open a command prompt. Change to E: drive (which I suppose is the drive where SAP is installed) and type the command:

E:>r3trans -d

If the command completes successfully then you are through.

In case you need further help then update the message.

Sameer

hi sameer thanks for the reply i did try to change the password of the user according to the note 50088 but out there i could not do it because database was not open now do i do that is it possible for u to send me 400241 note

and one of the oracle service which used to start automatically doesnt now....when i checked the event log why the service is not stratin it says

OracleAgent failed to read SNMP indexes from parameter file....

when i go to command prompt and type svrmgrl oracle server manager is strated and then i type connect internal and then i get connected

then when i give select statement it says oracle not availble and one error is shown as TNS:packet writer failure....

when i tried chaning the password from sapdba it says database not open now i know very less about SQl is there any way u can just tell me the command to open the database it would be really helpfull.....
