Which dbmssslib.dll is actually in use?

I still have some questions about dbmssslib.dll and dbdbmssslib.dll.

1) if we do a global search for dbmssslib.dll, we can see that it exists at multiple locations :

e.g. F:\usr\sap\DP4\DVEBMGS00\exe

F:\usr\sap\DP4\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64

Since they have the same size and time stamp, I think they are linked. How to find the link?

2) For Java only system (e.g. EP7.0), I cannot find dbmssslib.dll anywhere. Why?

Please help. Thanks!

Hello,

If you look in the START profile (RZ10) you'll see a DIR_CT_RUN defined. In your case this is F:\usr\sap\DP4\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64. When the instance is started it copies the contents of DIR_CT_RUN to DIR_EXECUTABLE (F:\usr\sap\DP4\DVEBMGS00\exe). SAP then runs from DIR_EXECUTABLE. DIR_CT_RUN can be shared between multiple instances but none of the files are live (and therefore never locked by a process). It's handy for keeping multiple instances in synch and applying new kernels.

Michael
